I, Switching power supply transformer definition

The switching power supply transformer refers adding witching tube to the power transformer. In the circuit, the switching power supply transformer has the function of voltage conversion of ordinary transformers, as well as power transmission and insulation isolation. Switching power supply transformers are widely used in high frequency circuits.

In the switching power supply, the transformer is a necessary component for conversion, energy storage, and isolation. It is mainly composed of magnetic core and winding. When we make transformers, reasonable selection of materials will affect the performance of the transformer, which will affect the heat dissipation and working efficiency of the equipment.

II, Switching power transformer classification.

Generally speaking, switching power supply transformers are divided into two types: single-pole switching power supply transformers and bipolar switching power supply transformers. The working principle and structure of the two switching power transformers are not the same. Among them, the unipolar switching power supply transformer is characterized by a unipolar pulse as an input voltage and is divided into a positive flyback voltage output; and a bipolar switching power supply transformer is a bipolar pulse as an input voltage, and the output is generally Bipolar pulse voltage.

III, Switching power supply transformer composition

Switching power transformer has three main components: magnetic materials, insulating materials and wire materials. They are the cores of switching power transformers.

Magnetic materials:

The magnetic materials used in most switching transformers are soft ferrite, which can be divided into two categories according to their composition and application frequency: MnZn and NiZn. MnZn has high saturation magnetic induction and high magnetic permeability, low loss in the low frequency and intermediate frequency range, and the shape of the core is divided into many types, such as EI type, EE type, E type and EC type.

Wire material - enameled wire:

The enameled wire used to wind small electronic transformers generally has a polyurethane enameled wire(QA) and a high-strength polyester enameled wire (QZ). According to the thickness of the paint layer, it can be divided into two types: thin paint type and thick paint type. The insulating coating for thin lacquer type is polyester lacquer, which has excellent heat resistance, and the insulating electric strength can reach 60kv/mm; while the thick lacquer type insulating layer is polyurethane lacquer, which has self-adhesiveness. Features, and self-welding performance (380℃), can be directly welded without the need for paint film, it is convenient and practical.

Because the insulating tape has higher electric strength than ordinary tape and excellent mechanical properties, it is widely used in the interlayer, outer insulation and inter-group insulation between the switching transformer coils in the power grid.

Bobbin material:

The bobbin of the switching transformer is different from the general transformer bobbin. In addition to the insulating material and the supporting material as the coil, it also plays the dual role of mounting and fixing and positioning of the whole transformer. Therefore, in addition to meeting the insulation requirements, the material selected for the coil former is prepared. It also has tensile strength, heat-resistant welding, heat distortion temperature higher than 200℃, material flame retardant, and easy to process into various shapes required by customers.
