How to classify current transformers according to their different characteristics?

classification by use 

Measuring current transformers or measuring windings of current transformers. Within the normal operating current range, provide the current information of the power grid to the measuring and metering devices;

Current transformer for protection or the protection winding of current transformer. Under the condition of power grid fault, it can provide the information of power grid fault current to relay protection devices.

Classification by insulating medium

Dry type current transformer: it is insulated by ordinary insulating material and treated with lacquer.

Castable current transformer: a current transformer cast with epoxy resin or other resin mixed materials;

Oil-immersed current transformer: insulated by insulating paper and insulating oil, generally outdoor type. Commonly used in our country various voltage levels;

Gas insulated current transformer: The main insulation is made of gas.

Classification by the principle of current transformation

Electromagnetic current transformer: current transformer that can transform current according to the principle of electromagnetic induction;

Photoelectric current transformer: Current transformer, which can realize current transformation through photoelectric conversion principle, is still under development

Classified by installation mode

Through-through current transformer: a current transformer used to pass through a screen or wall;

Strut current transformer: a current transformer mounted on a plane or strut and used as a primary circuit conductor strut;

Bushed current transformer: a current transformer without primary conductor and primary insulation, which is directly mounted on an insulated bushing;

Busbar current transformer: A current transformer that has no primary conductor but primary insulation and is installed directly on the busbar.
