What's the Difference Between Commom Mode Choke and Differential Mode Inductor October 30,2019.

I. Common mode inductor and differential mode inductor

Common mode inductors and differential mode inductors are one of the effective components for anti-electromagnetic interference. They are widely used in various filters, switching power supplies, but common mode inductors are used to suppress common mode interference, while differential mode inductors are used to suppress differential mode interference, both are important filter inductors.

II. Distinguish comon mode choke and differential choke

(I)1The common mode inductor with double winding and 4 pins. The differential mode inductor with single winding and two pins.

(II)The common mode choke is two sets coils with same winding turns, the same diameter of lead wire and opposite turns on the same core; the differential mode inductor is a coil wound around a core.

(V)5. The characteristics of the differential mode inductor are used in high current applications. Due to a coil wound around a core, when the current flowing into the coil increases, the core in the coil is saturated, so the most used core material on the market is the metal core material.
