When we manufacture high frequency transformers, we often find that there is some noise, squeak, buzz and other bad noise from transformers. According to our production experience, we summed up following several reasons, hope to help eliminate noise from transformers.

一. Magnetic materials

1. Poor core grinding(The bad phenomenon is mostly manual grinding), especially the air gap grinding of the column in the high frequency flyback transformer must be smooth and not uneven. If there are air gaps on both sides of the magnetic column, the height requirement is as high as the strength of the wrapping paper must be balanced, usually, transformer factory did’t use this method, most of which are grinding magnetic core columns

2. Magnetic core materials. The magnetic material magnetic powder has a magnetic lattice phenomenon, that is, when the magnetic powder inside the magnetic core is magnetized, the volume of the material will slightly change. This condition has no effect when used in a circuit with a frequency greater than 20KHZ, but In some 50HZ circuits, the buzz noise appears in the core. This occurs more often in E-shaped (EI-shaped) magnetic cores and is less common in toroidal inductors. This sound will also change with changes in the AC magnetic flux density.

The core is damaged. After being impregnated, the surface of the magnetic material after the machine has a moire or fracture (clearly fractured after dismantling), and noise is also generated.

二. Process control

1. Impregnation of transformers. Immersion requirements varnish impregnation. If not impregnated, in the process of transport or circuit assembly, it may lead to loose core phenomenon, which requires that after the impregnation, but also between the core and the skeleton epoxy glue, Fix it.

2. Secondly, there are also reasons such as uneven windings and misalignment or inequality between magnetic cores and magnetic cores (such as EE and EI).
