Flyback transformer, also known as single-ended flyback or ‘Buck-Boost’ converter, because of its output in the primary winding disconnected from the power supply when the energy so named. Flyback transformer is suitable for small power supplies and various power adapters, but the design of the flyback converter is difficult to design the transformer, because the input voltage range is wide, especially in the low input voltage, full load conditions, the transformer will work in the continuous current mode, and in the high input voltage, light load conditions, the transformer will work in the discontinuous current mode. So what is the role of impact transformer in power supply? We have summarised some of the roles and applications of PQ series and RM series transformers based on our production experience:
I. The main function of PQ series fylback transformers
1. Voltage conversion: Convert the input high voltage into low voltage suitable for the load, or boost the low voltage to high voltage to suit the transmission requirements.
2. Current regulation: By changing the voltage, the current is indirectly regulated to meet the requirements of different loads.
3. Isolation protection: In some applications, pq series flyback transformers can achieve electrical isolation to protect circuits from faults such as overvoltage and short circuit.
Power factor correction: by adjusting the parameters of the transformer, improve the power factor of the system, improve the efficiency of power utilisation.
4. Harmonic suppression: in some special designs, pq series flyback transformers can also play a role in suppressing grid harmonics and reducing interference with other equipment.
PQ series transformers are widely used in UPS power supply transformers, air vehicle impulse pile, mechanical and electronic equipment, medical equipment, high-power power supply and so on. Mainly used as drive transformer, main transformer and output filter inductor, PFC power inductor, widely used in colour TV and LCD power supply, computer, monitor, switch and other electrical equipment.
II. The main function of RM series fylback transformers
1. Energy storage and transfer: in the flyback circuit, the primary winding of the transformer stores energy during the switch on period and transfers the energy to the secondary winding during the switch off period, thus realising the conversion and transfer of energy.
2. Voltage transformation: By adjusting the turns ratio of the primary and secondary windings of the transformer, the voltage can be boosted or bucked to meet the needs of different loads.
3. Isolation: A flyback transformer can achieve electrical isolation between input and output to ensure the safety and stability of the circuit.
4. Multiple Outputs: Flyback transformers are capable of providing multiple DC outputs for application scenarios that require multiple voltage outputs.
RM series flyback transformers are widely used in a variety of electronic equipment, especially in low power power supply systems that require multiple outputs and high efficiency, such as: household appliances, communication equipment, computers and their peripherals, and industrial control equipment.
The high efficiency, stability and flexibility of flyback transformers make them the preferred solution for many power supply designs, and we believe that as technology develops, they will be widely used in more and more equipment and to meet a variety of special user requirements.
